Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter along with the granulated and brown sugars until creamy and light.
  • Add the eggs to the butter mixture, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour in the vanilla extract and beat until combined smoothly.
  • Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the semisweet chocolate chips until well distributed throughout the dough.

Baking

  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, scoop about 1.5 tablespoons of dough for each cookie and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart.
  • Bake the cookies for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are set and the centers appear slightly underdone.
  • Cool the cookies on the sheet for about five minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Rotate the baking sheets halfway through baking for even results.
