  • ½ teaspoon salt Balances sweetness and enhances flavor

Add-ins

  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Adds richness and texture
  • flaky sea salt Optional for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F and generously grease an 8-inch baking pan. Line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, vegetable oil, milk, and pure vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  • Add the large egg to the mixture and beat until incorporated, about 30 seconds, being careful not to overmix.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together.
  • Fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking pan and optionally sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes. Check doneness with a toothpick in the center; it should come out damp but not gooey.
  • Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting.

Notes

Letting brownies cool fully before cutting will help achieve cleaner squares. Experiment with using different types of chocolate chips for a unique twist. Store leftovers in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
