Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups granulated sugar adds sweetness and moisture
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil provides moisture and richness
  • ¼ cup milk enhances moisture
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract adds flavor
  • 1 large egg binds ingredients together

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour provides structure
  • ½ cup natural unsweetened cocoa powder gives chocolate flavor
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda helps with leavening
  • ½ teaspoon salt enhances flavor

Mix-ins & Garnish

  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips adds richness
  • flaky sea salt garnish optional, for flavor contrast

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, mix together granulated sugar, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

Mixing

  • Add the egg to the sugar mixture and beat until just combined.
  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Stir to mix well.
  • Blend the dry ingredients into the wet batter until just combined.
  • Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Spread the brownie batter evenly into the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle additional chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick; it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Once done, remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan before slicing.

Notes

Level your flour with a knife to avoid using too much. Allow brownies to cool before cutting for cleaner slices. Experiment with baking times to find your perfect texture.
