Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda leavening agent
  • 3/4 teaspoon Kosher Salt for flavor

Wet Ingredients

  • 2 sticks Unsalted Butter, softened provides moisture
  • 1 cup Light Brown Sugar, packed for sweetness and moisture
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar for sweetness and texture
  • 2 large Eggs for binding
  • 2 teaspoons Pure Vanilla Extract for flavor

Chocolate and Toppings

  • 2 1/2 cups Semisweet Chocolate Chips for chocolate flavor
  • 1 teaspoon Flaked Sea Salt optional, topping for flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a small bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and kosher salt. Whisk them together until fully blended and set aside.
  • In the bowl of a stand mixer using the paddle attachment, cream together the softened unsalted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar on medium-high until light and creamy, about three minutes.
  • Add the large eggs and pure vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture, mixing on low speed until just combined.
  • Incorporate the flour mixture all at once into the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed just until combined.
  • Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed, being careful not to overmix.
  • Cover the dough and refrigerate for 20 minutes.

Baking

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Portion out the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them appropriately.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are golden brown but the centers appear soft, about 9 to 12 minutes.
  • Tap the sheet pan on the counter gently to deflate the cookies slightly.
  • Sprinkle flaked sea salt on top of the warm cookies if desired.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.

Notes

For best results, ensure your butter is softened, and chill the dough to maintain shape. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy with coffee or as a dessert!
