  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract (optional) Adds flavor

  • 4.5-5 tablespoons room temperature water Adjust for desired consistency
  • 1 pinch salt (optional) Enhances flavor

Preparation

  • Add the confectioners’ sugar into a medium bowl.
  • If using vanilla extract, sprinkle it in at this stage.
  • Incorporate the light corn syrup into the sugar mixture and stir well.
  • Begin adding in the room temperature water, starting with around 4.5 tablespoons, and mix using a whisk.
  • Adjust the consistency by adding more water if needed until it reaches a drizzle consistency.
  • If desired, divide the icing and tint with food coloring.
  • Pour the icing into squeeze bottles or piping bags for application.
  • Let the icing dry and set for about 24 hours.

Notes

Store leftover icing covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Decorated cookies can be stored at room temperature for about 5 days.
