Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, melted for moisture
  • ½ cup granulated sugar for sweetness
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed for richness
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract for flavor
  • 1 large egg for binding

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour for texture
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda for leavening
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt for balance

Mix-ins

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips for indulgence

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  • Microwave the butter for around 40 seconds until it’s completely melted but not hot.
  • In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and the egg until fully incorporated.
  • Add the flour, baking soda, and kosher salt to the bowl. Mix until just combined.
  • Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Scoop out 1.5 tablespoons of dough and place them about 2 inches apart on a baking sheet.
  • Bake until set and slightly underbaked in the middle, with golden edges.

Cooling

  • Let the cookies cool slightly on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to a week. They can also be crumbled over ice cream or served warm with a sprinkle of sea salt.
